Hi there! Welcome to my blog, a place where I share my life, weddings, and my journey through building a life-giving business. Stay a while and say hello!

I AM SUMMER ALISABETH

My Only Regret from our Wedding Day

Wedding Wednesday

May 13, 2020

Today’s Wedding Wednesday tip is small, but to me, oh so important! It’s something I wish someone would have told me we would want this. I wish someone would have told me how much I would cherish this.

So far besides this one thing, there isn’t anything I regret about our wedding. We loved everything about it: the atmosphere, the location, the colors, the style, etc. This will probably change over the years as certain things go out of style and the wedding industry changes, and down the road, I may love different things than I did when we were wedding planning. But that’s bound to happen anytime you get married! The one thing that I regret that actually matters is this:

I regret not making time on our wedding day, even just 15 minutes, to spend with my husband with no one else around, no one to talk to, nothing to do. Just the two of us, sitting and talking, actually being in the moment.

I had absolutely no idea how fast the day would really go! We are extremely thankful we did a first look because that did give us at least a little bit of time to “be alone”, though we happily started portraits right after! But this is currently the only thing I wish I could change about our wedding day! Doing this would have allowed us to slow down and take a breather from all the excitement.

Lavon and I both thrive on quality time, and if that’s something that you and your fiancé cherish as well, maybe consider allowing a little extra time to just be with each other with no one else around!
