January 13, 2020
2019 was so different than any other year I’ve had photographing weddings! But it has by far been the best! Lavon began shooting with me this year, and while it’s been challenging, it’s also been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I trained him for awhile before we did our first wedding together, but he amazed me with how fast he learned how I shoot! He’s the one person that knows me the best, which makes him a perfect assistant for me. While there are still so many things we need to learn and adjust as we shoot together more and more, I have a feeling it will only get better from here! He usually knows what I need before I even ask, and is always extremely helpful and kind: to me and our couples! We photographed 9 weddings in 2019, and will be shooting even more together in 2020! One of the things we love most about shooting together is that we don’t have to spend our Saturdays apart. He works full time during the week, and now we still get to spend our entire weekend together!
2019 was a beautiful year of growing and learning…and while 2020 will still be a year of growing and learning too, it will also be a year of working smarter, not harder. There are lots of changes coming up that we’re really excited about, but we’re still most excited for our 2020 couples – they will forever remain our #1 priority!
I think this photo below of Lavon and I is one of my all time favorites…captures us, together, doing what we love…
There are two dresses that you may notice A LOT in this blog post! I wore them to a lot of weddings because they were so comfortable, making them my favorite! A 2020 goal of mine is to expand my wardrobe!
Sitting in ditches actually happens a lot at engagement sessions!!
I can’t even count on both of my hands the number of times I’ve had him stand for photos so I can test the light…but he’s a trooper and never complains!
This past year, I had the pleasure of becoming friends with Karla of Honey + Joy Events, then we got to do a summer wedding together at Walker Homestead! Loved this entire beautiful day with Eric and Taylor! If you’re looking for a wedding planner that loves what she does and is really good what she does, then Karla is your girl!
My poor husband…he’s an amazing second shooter and assistant, but I feel so bad when he’s constantly moving things out of the way, running to get something/someone, and making sure I have everything I need to give our clients the best experience! He truly is the sweetest person on earth and I’m so thankful for him!
We’re not just wedding photographers, we do anything and everything for the bride and groom on the wedding day!
This was the day I blended in with the bridesmaids! HA! Also, you gotta lay on the floor to get the perfect ring shot…
Getting sparklers to light when it’s windy is difficult lol!
Again, picking up all the water bottles for us…!
This is when I *almost* laid in the doggy mess…thankfully I just stepped in it…but it smelled bad!
I promise I love wedding days…but it was realllllllly hot during this ceremony!
I can’t believe I’m sharing this, but I laugh every time I see the photo on the right! I kinked my neck really badly the day before this wedding, and the entire day, I could barely move my neck! Lavon was making fun of me of course! Do I look stiff at all?!?
I honestly never realized how much we smile behind our cameras until I was going through these photos…can you tell we love what we do?!?
I always end up chatting with the little girls on the dance floor haha!
Sometimes you just need a *little* more room to back up to get everything in your shot, so you do this! Then your husband shows you the door stops 10 seconds later…
I always find some corner of the venue to quickly work on something extra special on my laptop for our couples!
Why am I standing like that?!? Whatever I did, looks like I loved the end result!
My hubby…looking so good!
I love being the extra personal attendant for each of my brides on their big day!
Always admiring the gorgeous rings…
We usually end up dancing on the dance floor a few times before the night’s over!
This is what happens when Lavon and I press the shutter button at the exact same millisecond…!
We had the pleasure of working with Ben and Lauren from Graphic Formation Films for Kaleb + Courtney’s wedding, and they are amazing!!! Highly recommend these two, and we love seeing the awesome work they create!
I am thinking extremely hard about something in the photo on the right…but I have no idea what about haha!
Almost every wedding, the couple goes to cut the cake and they realize they don’t know how to cut it! Karla and I made to sure to help them!
2019, you’ve been so good to us! Praying 2020 is even better!
