I’ll be honest…most wedding days run behind schedule at least a little bit. It’s so normal that I expect it to happen and I plan for it! However, there is one thing that you, the bride, can do to try to keep your wedding day moving in an orderly fashion.
Plan more extra time than you think you will need for hair and makeup to be done (maybe an hour?), and be sure your hair stylist and makeup artist know exactly what time you HAVE to be done getting ready!
Generally, I have found that IF I can get the bride and groom to the first look on time, then the rest of the day usually stays right on schedule. Occasionally, hair and makeup take much longer than the stylists and artists expected, and it’s not always their fault. Sometimes they’ll have last minute bridesmaids or moms jump in and decide they want their makeup or hair done too, sometimes a bridesmaid doesn’t arrive on time, etc. so they may not have had the ideal amount of time they need to do a really good job for everyone. They’re not to blame for that. However, it is common for this part of the day to fall behind schedule for many different reasons, and you don’t want your hair stylist and makeup artist feeling rushed! Your hair and makeup is a very important part of your day and you deserve to love the way you look; the way you look affects the way you feel! And the way you feel affects how much you enjoy your day! When you give them a little extra time, they won’t feel rushed, you might like your hair/makeup better, and if you end up getting done earlier than expected, you have extra time to enjoy the morning and hang out with your friends! It’s a win-win!
