Your Heirloom Wedding Album

Wedding Wednesday

July 24, 2019

Right now, we live in a time where everything is digital, and because of that, it’s easy to keep all our photos on our phones, laptops, etc. as well as Facebook and Instagram. I deliver all my galleries online, so it’s easy to just keep our portraits there and I understand that…I’m even guilty of this! There’s nothing wrong with keeping our photos online or backed up on hard drives. But I can’t stress enough the importance of having your portraits printed in some way. When you have portraits framed on all your walls, it makes a home feel even homier. That’s a great place to start. But this post is about understanding the importance and significance in investing in a heirloom wedding album made up of dozens of your favorite images telling the story of your wedding day.

Having photos printed and hung on your wall is great, BUT there are so many photos you have of special moments on your wedding day that would be a little odd to hang on your wall. For example, here are a few moments from our wedding day that don’t necessarily “fit in” on our wall: I love the portraits of my mom buttoning up my dress. I love the photos of my littlest brother carrying a fancy wine glass overflowing with pink lemonade, food dripped all over his white shirt, all while he’s licking his lips. I love the photos of my siblings crowded around the little white wagon with baby Leo laying in it. I love the photos of Lavon hugging his mom when they first saw each other, sobbing with happiness that it wasn’t raining.

These “non-wall portraits” are some of my absolute favorite memories ever, and I want to make sure I still have them in a place I can look back at often, NOT on my phone, and NOT just in my gallery. All these photos tell a much stronger story when they can be paired next dozens of other images taken around that same part of the wedding day. And that’s why I believe that your wedding album is actually one of the most important investments you could make regarding your wedding.

In our wedding album, I created entire spreads for everything, beginning to end: my bridal details, getting ready in the morning, our first look, our portraits, bridal party portraits, family portraits, ceremony, decor, reception entrances, dinner, toasts, dances, open dance floor, and our sparkler exit with a horse-drawn carriage. That big book is extremely special to us now because it’s something we’re going to keep and share forever. In 25 years, we want our children and grandchildren to see what our wedding day was like in a heirloom album, not online in some gallery. I still look at my parent’s wedding album often, and I’m so grateful they invested in an album to share with us. When you have family and friends over, you have something on your coffee table to share with them, and they love that. There’s also something really cool and exciting about physically holding memories. Having something from your wedding day that we can actually touch and feel is way more special than swiping left on our phone. It is for me at least.

I’ve always told my husband that if our house was on fire, I would grab our bibles, our wedding album, our wedding keepsake box, and my camera bag if I could. Wedding albums can be expensive, but know that this is something you’ll cherish for the rest of your life. It’s not a normal book, this is your love story.

I offer four different album options to all my SAP Couples: 10 x 10 or 12 x 12 of a linen or leather cover, as well as an 8 x 8 option for a parent album! You can add additional spreads, engraving or debossing, a cameo window, or even a linen case or wooden case to keep the album safe.

There are multiple and beautiful color options to choose from to coordinate the color scheme of your wedding! Our wedding color was blush with gold, white, and champagne accents, so I chose a color called “Tusk”, and I love the way it turned out!

We also ordered a duplicate 4 x 4 mini album of our big 12 x 12 album. It’s so tiny, and so cute! I’m more okay with the little kids touching the mini album…HA!

The light blue color on the right is called “Sailboat” and it’s one of my top favorites! I ordered that one for a sweet bride for this coming September!

Every single album I offer comes as a “lay-flat” album. As you can see from the image above on the left, when you open it up, it lays flat, there’s not crease in the center, the pages don’t curve out, and you can place images over the center!

I include 15 spreads/30 pages in the album options, but you’re always welcome to add more! We went all out for our own album, and included 40 spreads/80 pages because I wanted to include 300+ photos from the day!

We knew that if we were going to make an investment on a high quality wedding album, we wanted a case to keep it safe in. This way, nothing will get spilled on it, nothing will fade, or get dusty. We could have gotten a wooden case, but we decided we wanted the linen case in the color “Tusk” to match our album!

If you decide you don’t want to add a hard linen or wooden case to your album, that’s okay! Each album still comes with a complimentary, fabric sleeve!

If you realize that this is something you’d like to have in your home to share with your family and friends, let me know, even if you’re not one of my brides! I would be happy to design and order one for you, or direct you to a professional printing lab to do yourself! Once this album is in your hands, you won’t regret it for a second!
