Hi there! Welcome to my blog, a place where I share my life, weddings, and my journey through building a life-giving business. Stay a while and say hello!

Oxford IA Engagement | Kyle & Megan

July 23, 2019

If you feel like Megan looks a little familiar, that’s because she does! I had the privilege of photographing her twin sister Morgan’s wedding last fall, and I am so happy to celebrate another special day with their family! Kyle and Megan have been together for almost seven years, but they knew each other for eight years before that. They are SO ready for their wedding day to finally be here! They met in 4th and 6th grade while showing cattle at the Johnson County Fair as show competitors, but they were basically acquaintances until her senior year of high school. They both went to Iowa State, and for their first date, they went to figure-eight racing in Sigourney to watch Megan’s uncle race! They’ve gone on many different dates, and have a goal to camp at every state park in Iowa. They both absolutely love camping, being with their family and their dog Cash, playing cards, seeing concerts, or going on road trips, but anytime they can just relax, have good conversation, and try new things together always ends up being a favorite.

Kyle proposed on March 9, 2019, Megan’s birthday, and looking back, she remembers feeling nervous that day and not knowing why. Deep down, she had a feeling Kyle was going to propose sometime soon. Kyle’s mom and sister took Megan to get manicures as a birthday gift, and when she got back home, there were a dozen roses on the dining room table. Kyle was dressed up and attached a birthday card to Cash’s harness. It read “Let’s make our little family official already!” Of course Kyle was already on one knee, popped the question, and Megan said yes! The celebrated the special day with dinner at Iowa River Power and went dancing after!

We had a gorgeous evening for their engagement session on their beautiful farmland. Barns, big pastures and tall grass, beautiful pond…it doesn’t get much better than that!

“There are so many things I love about Kyle. One thing I love is that he is a family man. Kyle makes both of our families a priority. We both have big families and it is important to me that we carve out time for them. A more romantic reason…I love that he always gives me a kiss before he leaves for work and before he goes to sleep.”

“I love that Megan is a caring person, family oriented, and will make a wonderful mom someday.”

“Kyle is free spirited, he doesn’t like to always follow a calendar. He has a strong work ethic and likes to be independent. Kyle is also funny, stubborn, and sweet.”

“Megan likes to have structure and organization. She also has a strong work ethic but does not like to be independent. She loves having people around. She can be a little stubborn at times too but always tries to see the best in situations.”
