I’m trying to think of how to even begin to describe this wedding day, but I am at a loss for words! To sum it up, it was a beautiful, joyous, and God-honoring celebration, but it was actually much more than that to the story. I actually met Ashley for the first time this summer at one of my other weddings that she was a bridesmaid in! She’s the type of person that is so sweet and thoughtful, and you feel like you know her super well, even though you may have only talked once! She’s an amazing person all by herself, but when you throw Chris into the picture, it gets even better! These two are as classy, romantic, and sophisticated as can be, and it makes perfect sense that they call themselves “old souls”!
Not only did they first meet on a blind date set up by two close friends, but Chris drove all the way up from TEXAS to meet this girl!!! Either he trusted his friends A LOT that first time, or God was telling him to go, but before he knew it, he was making that trip to Iowa more and more! Fast forward until their romantic date last June at the Dallas Arboretum Chris planned just for her. They stopped at a park bench, and Chris pulled out a small story book to read to her. This was common for them to read together, as they had done this since the very beginning of their relationship! Winnie the Pooh was the first book he read to her, so he brought another Winnie the Pooh along. They came to the end of the story where Christopher Robin is telling his friends in the Hundred Acre woods about his adventure at school and the friend he met there. He enjoyed this friend so much that he wanted to invite her to live in the Hundred Acre Woods with them. All Christopher Robin had to do was ask her! This is when Chris got down on one knee and asked Ashley to marry him! Talk about the sweetest, most unique proposal EVER!! Chris wrote that story for her and had it printed, illustrated, and bound, just like a real book!
If that proposal doesn’t tell you anything about who they are as a couple, I don’t know what does! They’re both so thoughtful, sincere, and kind and they love adventures and quality time together. They both had always dreamed of an outdoor wedding, and decided to say their vows overlooking the vineyard of Cedar Ridge Winery. With the fall colors all around, it was breathtaking and make perfect sense for them! With the days leading up to it being rainy, gray, and dreary, as well as the days following it, they were blessed with a the ONE sunny and 75 degree day. Ahhhhh it was seriously so perfect, but I’ll let the pictures do the talking!
